Snake in the Grass

Yesterday we went to a new venue, and were immediately greeted by the purring of a Turtle Dove when we opened the car doors. It then did a wonderful courtship display flight. The am group had fairly good, but brief views of a Cuckoo, but in the afternoon only distant calls were heard. Apart from Reed & Sedge Warblers, sightings of birds were very few & far between, but the site has great potential for late April, and early May, so we will be back!
