Week 3 Photos of Attendees

Just after I posted yesterday's photos I received a few emails from attendees who had also taken photos, so I showcase them here.  Also included are photos of a Kestrel from Derbyshire and some garden photos in the Newport area.

Week 3 of Specials

This week on both days the groups operating under socially-distanced guidelines went to Wharram Percy.  There was no sign of Redstarts or Spotted Flycatchers, but the Wednesday group did spot a family of Grey Wagtails.  Unfortunately, they were too far away to be photographed.  On Thursday morning we endured quite a bit of rain, but still saw Marbled Whites, Meadow Browns and Ringlets.  By the afternoon the rain had abated, so a lot more butterflies were on the wing.  However, the highlight was an extremely confiding Hummingbird Hawk-Moths.  This calmly nectared while my small group looked on in admiration.  I think this was the first time we had observed this species.  it was certainly the longest and best views I've ever had of it.
