East Park Egyptian

Egyptian Goose
Standing out among the Crowd
Blackcap - puffed up against the cold

Following the receipt of a text photo of a strange goose taking bread from visitors at East Park, I finally managed to catch-up with the Eqyptian Goose. Only previously seen them from a distance at Filey Dams, maybe nearly a decade ago. The interesting thing about this one was the sound it made - like a steam train coming to a halt - quite different from other geese. Back at home a Blackcap showed briefly in a very dark corner. It looked very cold, as all its feathers seemed to be puffed out - more like what you'd expect from a winter Robin. Roll on a proper spring!

I heard my first Egyptian Geese in London earlier this year - it's quite an alarming sound!
