Checked on Welton Water in the morning. Nice to hear & see the first Blackcap of the year, and 3 Sand Martins. In the afternoon we had a catch-up session at Far Ings. There were c50 Sand Martins, a Willow Warbler, 6 Pink-footed Geese, Bullfinches. We also had a single Swallow, so this seems to fit in with this weekend's forecast! However, the visual highlight were 3 sightings of a Kingfisher, whilst the boom of a Bittern heard in the car park just as we were about to leave was a nice climax. This was the first time Margaret had heard a Bittern, and the clearest one for Brenda. Far Ings hardly ever disappoints!
