Before we Lost the Sun

Male Red-backed Shrike aka The Butcher Bird (c) 2020 Alex Meek
It wasn't too bad earlier in the week, but the rest of the days were pretty much of a washout this week, including today.  A few photos have been sent in, so I'm including those today.  I went to Kilnsea three days running, and did get a brief view of a beautifully-coloured male Red-backed Shrike until the photographer stalking it frightened it off.  I waited over half an hour in the drizzle, but it didn't return.  A few years ago Alex Meek allowed me to use his marvellous photos of a Red-backed Shrike taken at Flamborough on my calendar, and this seems an appropriate moment to reprise it.
