Tuesday was very overcast so we had to drop Oakhill in favour of Blacktoft Sands. A new high of 11 Spoonbills were present, plus 2 Green Sandpipers and at least 3 Snipe. Around the Barn Owl box we saw at least 4 Barn Owls, which was a new record for us. When we got to Townend apart from the Spoonbill and the waders the young Bearded Tits probably caused most excitement as they flittered about on the mud.

In the afternoon on the way to Kilnsea a Buzzard took off from a roadside muck-heap.

It looked as though we would get thunderstorms on Wednesday, so we abandoned Kilnsea in favour of Kiplingcotes. The weather was a lot better than forecast, and in the afternoon even the sun came out. The butterflies and flora were outstanding.
