On Thursday we walked from Kiplingcotes station to the nature reserve and back again. We froze in our steps when we heard what sounded like an insistent Tree Sparrow in a hedge. This turned out to be two young Whitethroats which may have been forced out of their nests too early. In the afternoon although the sound seemed to be coming from the bush again, Vic spotted it in the grass. On our return two hours later all was silence. I hope this was good news for the Whitethroat.

On Friday we switched from Brockadale to North Cave Wetlands. It rained all morning, but didn't rain at all in the afternoon. Life often doesn't seem fair. Both sessions almost reached 40 species.
