The Moth Trap in May

I tried putting the moth trap out for a couple of nights in later April, but the night's were cool and clear and the following mornings the trap was empty.  I didn't have a lot of success in early May either.  It was only later in the month when the trap became more successful. This was something encountered over the whole of northern Europe.  Birds which rely on a plentiful moth supply must have found things really difficult.  The Nightjar in particular must have been short of food.
