On Wednesday rain was forecast for all morning and some of the afternoon, so our Turtle Dove, butterfly and dragonfly venue had to be abandoned in favour of RSPB Blacktoft Sands.  In the morning we had good views of female Bittern, plus 2 pristine Spotted Redshank, Spoonbill, Barn Owl, Marsh Harriers, Sedge Warbler, Reed Warbler, Whitethroat, Reed Bunting, Water Rail (h), Shelduck, Gadwall, Heron, Little Grebe etc.

Cetti’s Warblers are normally very hard to see, but this afternoon we found a family of about 5, one fledgling of which stayed still long enough for its photo to be taken at RSPB Blacktoft Sands.
