First Waxwing of the Autumn

Maggie Bruce spotted the first Waxwing seen in the Spurn recording area this season on some wires outside the entrance to the Sandy Beaches Caravan Park on Beacon Lane. I hadn't realised it was the first, so was quite surprised when after I put it out on the radio, we were deluged with other people wanting to see it. We had moved on to 4 Bramblings calling in the hedge. In the afternoon the waxwing had relocatedto Kew Villa where it was trilling loudly in some bare twigs. It remained long enough for everyone to get a long look at it. It was a "lifer" for some participants.
