On Thursday we were at Flamborough Head in nice, if rather humid weather. This wasn't particular good for birds - a birder in the afternoon uttered the immortal words: "You should have been here yesterday!" However, there were Shags, Cormorants and Gannets over the sea, and flocks of Linnets, Goldfinches & Tree Sparrows. There were plenty of Meadow Pipits (mainly am), but the classier birds were near Old Fall Plantation. We saw at least 3 Redstarts, 3 Pied Flycatchers and a couple of Spotted Flycatchers. The Pied Flycatchers & Redstarts were quite nervous, but we did get closer to a Spotted Flycatcher. The Redstart's rusty tail as it flew along the hedge was one of the highlights. After bad weather this location is supposed to be absolutely dripping with birds, so we're hoping for rain or a violent storm before the next visit!
