Friday Spring 10 - Flamborough
Arctic Skua (Dark Phase)

Shag
Kestrel
Meadow Pipit (note nails)
Togetherness is.......
Herring Gull
The Puffins, Guillemots, Razorbills & Kittiwakes at this location can be seen on the blog entries for 11th & 19th of June. The greatest surprise today was the Arctic Skua, which came in off the sea to have a freshwater drink in the new "reserve" area. Also present was a Common Sandpiper and a Brent Goose (both am only).

Thursday Spring 10 - RSPB Blacktoft Sands
Bittern (c) 2007 Tony Robinson
Marsh Harrier (c) 2008 Jackie Dawson
Sedge Warbler (c) 2008 Jackie Dawson
I couldn't manage binoculars, telescope and camera, so Jackie Dawson very kindly stepped in & took the photographs for today - my thanks to her. The bird of the day was a Hobby, seen by everyone in the afternoon, but both sessions saw the Bittern flying over the reeds. The Marsh Harriers gave good views and among the waders we saw 2 male Ruff (with ruff feathers) [pm only], Spotted Redshank, Black-tailed Godwit, Green Sandpiper, Dunlin etc. Overall a very good day, despite the very poor turnout!Wednesday, 25 June 2008
