On Tuesday we arrived at Paull at high tide, but there were plenty of waders. Shortly after leaving the car park, we had 2 Redwings, which were the first of the Autumn. On the shoreline there were flocks of Dunlin & Ringed Plovers. We eventually saw Curlew and Redshank, whilst flocks of Golden Plover passed overhead. One of the highlights were the Bar-tailed Godwits, but we also saw some Black-tailed Godwits, Goldfinches, Cormorants & a Painted Lady.

It was supposed to rain on Wednesday, so we switched to Tophill, but of course it failed to rain. That’s 2 consecutive Wednesdays the forecast has been wrong. We saw about 36 species, which was less than standard. A pair of Ruff were one of the morning highlights and we saw 4 different Green Sandpipers. We also had a glimpse of a Kingfisher. The light was better after lunch for a Green Sandpiper.
