Turning up for a meeting with the SEO

Today's secret weapon was having nineteen-year-old eyes watching out for anything interesting.  We had just crossed a bridge over a deep ditch when those eyes spotted movement in the distance.  It was a Short-eared Owl.  We parked up, opened the window, switched the engine off and waited.  Sure enough it carried on hunting for food on either side of the dyke, constantly moving in our direction.  Eventually it landed just in front of us giving amazing views, and stared us out.  Unfortunately, there was no sign of any Hen Harriers today.

There were a few Kestrels, a single Little Egret, and hundreds of Fieldfare about.
