Wildlife photography is probably at its most difficult on grey or misty November days. Yesterday we saw Goldcrests, Bullfinches, and plenty of common birds, but it was so dark it wasn't worth photographing any of these. However, we did see some interesting and colourful fungi. These didn't come out too well on my mobile phone, so I went on to Burton Bushes on Beverley Westwood to see what the fungi were like in there. It was quite muddy, but because it hasn't been a really wet autumn there weren't a profusion of species, but there was still plenty of interesting examples. It was so dark the inbuilt flash on the camera had to be used at times. So, the moral is, if you think it's too dark to photograph birds or mammals in the autumn, why not consider photographing fungi?
