On Thursday we had to abandon Stone Creek because of the poor forecast and went to Blacktoft Sands instead. We saw almost 40 species, but the Tufted Ducks and Pochard haven't returned yet. The Kingfisher was definitely one of the highlights of the afternoon, whilst a pair of Whooper swans were popular in the morning. However, the best bird was probably the Merlin which looked fantastic through Elaine's telescope. This was a "lifer" for many participants. Everything else was pretty much as expected.
