On Tuesday and Wednesday we went to Paull Holme Strays because the wind was supposed to be non-existent, although it had got quite breezy by Wednesday afternoon. We saw all the usual suspects, plus lots of butterflies on Ivy in sheltered locations.

The Thursday groups were able to go to RSPB Blacktoft Sands as planned. the best photo opportunity was the female Kingfisher, but there were distant Bearded Tits and Water Rails to enjoy. The marsh harriers were harder to see than usual at this location.

On Friday the weather forecast was pretty bad, so we detoured to Tophill Low. A tiny Grass Snake was an afternoon highlight, and there was some interesting fungi - including a rude one I've never seen before.

Yes a Common Darter. Loved the action shots of the Water Rails + the irruption of Bearded Tits must have been a great sight to witness- I've never seen that number together before.
