Shock! Horror! No Osprey

Bog Standard Cuckoo
Turtle Dove
Bullfinch
Reed Warbler
Sparrowhawk
The bird of the day was definitely the hepatic Cuckoo, which was seen at exactly the same site as last year. We also had a standard female being chased by a male; and probably another male calling nearby. On our am visit last week Brian logged 47 species, which we didn’t equal today, probably because of the strong northerly winds, but it’s certainly been the best location this week. Also seen: Turtle Dove; plus Sedge & Reed Warbler, Lesser & Common Whitethroat, Bullfinch, Linnet, Goldfinch etc. Surprisingly, there was no Osprey flying over us today. The Great Crested Grebe was spied on her nest, and was the pick of the water birds. We had every UK hirundine, plus a good number of Swifts. Another enjoyable morning.
