In the quest for finding somewhere I can birdwatch in an under crowded location, I had another look at last week's moorland location. It was noticeably quieter in bird terms than last week, despite a relatively calm morning after 3 days of "Autumnal" winds. There were plenty of Meadow Pipits, but they don't present too many photographic opportunities. The colours on a female Lapwing were the visual highlight of the morning. Although it is still a relatively common bird, we don't often get the chance to sit this close to them, as we do when they stand right next to the road guarding their chicks in the long grass and heather.
