Far From the Madding Crowd

Barn Owl

Ruff - unexpected, in stubble field a mile from the Humber estuary
Ruff taking off - showing white on tail & thin line in wing
Golden Plover - more expected in fields during autumn & winter

Didn't fancy the packed weekend crowds at the coast, so ventured into the wastes of Holderness instead. I hadn't seen any Barn Owls since the summer, so it was great to find one on a very overcast grey morning, just after the mist cleared. If only it had been a little brighter, the pictures may have come out a little better. The Ruff in a field of Golden Plover was very unexpected. Will try looking again in better light conditions.
