Record shot of Marsh Harrier

Carefree Cygnets
Painted Lady
Blue-tailed Damselfly
Common Blue Damselflies "in tandem"
Popped over to the RSPB reserve at Blacktoft Sands today. Could have spent loads of time photographing the Avocets, but had a very confiding Marsh Harrier instead, plus a flyby Bittern. Painted Ladies were everywhere, and there were some delicate fidgety damselflies to try & capture. Couldn't photograph the Bittern today, so had to rely on one of Tony's old ones. There were plenty of Reed Buntings, Reed Warblers & Sedge Warblers, but we didn't really manage to get any stunning close views. It was an awful lot cooler than yesterday - in some ways quite a relief!

That Painted Lady looks like has travelled enough! I haven't seen any yet here and I can't wait for a repeat of the bumper summer of 2003

I haven't seen one at home yet, but they seem to be everywhere in the countryside. There are some bright ones about, but I seem to be only able to get the chance to photograph the 'worn' examples!
