Shoveler
Record shot of Marsh Harrier (female)
Whooper Swan (c) 2008 Maurice Gordon
The weather wasn't kind to us today, so cameras were not used -all images above are from the archive. The weather was worse in the morning, but the birds were more active. In the morning we had at least 6 Marsh Harriers in the sky at the same time, and another 2 from the car park. Also seen were a pair of Stonechats, 3 Whooper Swans, c10 Shoveler, Gadwall, Wigeon, Teal, Redwing, Mistle Thrushes & large flocks of Golden Plovers. The biggest surprise was a Great Spotted Woodpecker in an area largely devoid of trees! The best sight in the afternoon was either a flock of Pink-footed Geese heading south or views of possibly 2 different Barn Owls.
