Local Murmuration

This afternoon I tried out the local Starling Murmuration at North Cave Wetlands, East Yorkshire.  The Starlings were in action for about 30 mins, and it was all over at 16.20.  The Starlings went into several interesting shapes, but not the question mark or spaceship I’ve seen before.  The ‘Z’ for Zorro was the most iconic shape I spotted.  Scientists reckon each Starling moves by studying the 7 Starlings in front of it.  This begs the question what do the 7 at the front watch?   There are many murmurations over the countryside, so there’s probably one not too far from you.  You can locate yours by checking out starlingsintheuk.co.uk.  Moving images from this afternoon’s birds are Here

Here’s some moving images of the same murmuration: https://youtu.be/ID9AsZfQEpc?si=RdPJ1lcEl56KmR1Y
