Post Lockdown - Backwards

The alleviation of some Covid restrictions this week meant that the classes were able to resume for the first time in 2021.   I haven't used blogger for a while, so was rather surprised to find this week's photos have appeared in reverse order.  So, we start with Friday at the only planned visit to Danes Dyke.  Both sessions started with a singing Nuthatch in the car park, and we finished with a confiding Wren.

On Thursday we went for a gentle walk in the Yorkshire Wolds, which included farmland, parkland and scrubby areas.  We saw our first Swallow, but didn't manage a photo.  We actually saw more species than at the reserves on the previous two days, but we didn't really get close enough to there wildlife for decent photos.

On Wednesday we visited an area of heartland near York.  The only summer visitors which seemed to have returned were Chiffchaffs, Willow Warblers, and a stray Blackcap after lunch.  One of the first birds spotted by Tony was a Barn Owl.

While the classes started two Wednesday stalwarts went on a "Staycation" to Wales.  They found some birds we haven't seen yet in Yorkshire this year.
