On Wednesday we changed because of a very damp forecast to Tophill Low. Here the star birds were 2 Jack Snipe among 4 bog standard Common Snipe. Also worthy of note was a single drake Common Scoter on O Res. We looked at this for absolutely aeons until Sally could make out that the pale colour on the bill was indeed orange. Susan reported a female Pintail on Watton Borrow Pits in the morning, so in the afternoon I checked every bird, and can confirm there were a pair of Pintail in eclipse. The drake was even further behind the North Cave bird in moulting out of its eclipse plumage.
