Today's session was altered to North Cave Wetlands because rain was forecast throughout the day. Of course during the session not a single drop of rain fell! It was a great morning for views of a female Green Woodpecker, whilst the end of the afternoon was enlivened by the release of 6 immature Mute Swans on to the ice. Seemed a funny time for releasing them back into the wild. Let's hope the thaw really sets in soon. Other birds seen included: Great Spotted Woodpecker, Bullfinch, Siskin (20+), Snipe, Wigeon, Goosanders, Water Rail, Little Egret, Redwing, Fieldfare, Buzzard etc. Total birds seen on the day 44.
