Lime Hawk Moth

After Saturday's session I returned home to be confronted by a new species, the striking Lime Hawk Moth. There are plenty of Lime trees nearby, so we've probably just never been lucky enough to see them before. The moth is photographed here on privet leaves, but had presumably fallen out of the adjacent young Lime, so after its picture was taken it was returned to the Lime.

Great Moth to find Michael.

Yeah, lovely moth. I'm tempted to get a moth trap, as living on the edge of a Victorian cemetery, I think we'd get quite a lot of interesting stuff. However, it took Tophill Low 3 hours to process their moths on Saturday morning, which made me think again!

I saw one of these moths today on the floor in Whitefriargate, Hull. I was fascinated - they are so beautiful. I moved it from the pedestrian walkway to the trees near Queeens Gardens.
