Spurn Spring Migrants?

I had another try for Spurn as south-easterly winds were forecast & all those spring migrants should be flooding in. My car was in for its 1st service (actually in 20 years of car-owning, it's the 1st service any of them have ever had), so it was good to go over all those speed bumps and into those sandpits in someone else's vehicle! Although the calendar says it's April, it felt more like October, and the birds reflected this. There were a few Winter Thrushes at the point & I used all my fieldcraft skills to get as close as I could. Actually, that's the best Fieldfare I've managed to photograph so far, but the classic Redwing shot still eludes me. I still need a decent one for the 2010 calendar, so if anyone out there is willing to donate an excellent shot for a free calendar, let me know! I drove back through Stone Creek, and the semi-tame Little Egret was still hanging around, but little else. I'm sure the 1st Blackcaps are normally back by now, but I've not heard their lovely song around here yet. Roll on the proper spring! When I got back & received the bill for the car's service I realised why I'd never had a service before - plus another £100 for 4 mudflaps fitted - daylight robbery!
