A return visit to Friday’s location in slightly better weather. We saw another Bullfinch chewing dandelion heads, and the Great Spotted Woodpeckers were still active feeding their now noisy chicks. The young of Blackbirds, Dunnocks, Robins, Coots & Mallard were much in evidence; as were some strange duckling/goslings in the afternoon. A Little Grebe was seen on a nest in the morning with her mate nearby, while in the afternoon, what may have been a different Little Grebe was seen on the main lake. There were plenty of Song Thrushes, Blackbirds and very busy Starlings looking for food on the lawns. Also present were singing Goldcrest, Chiffchaff and Blackcap. The other nearby location had also improved since Friday with Whitethroats especially more active. We saw a female deer in the morning, but there was no sign of her fawn.
